Covid Guidelines for 2022-23

Classrooms at Bishop Adventist Christian School are divided as follows:

Grades 1-2 (multigrade classroom)

Grades 3-5 (multigrade classroom)

Grades 5-8 (multigrade classroom)

Staff may not be able to make accommodations for students with special circumstances.

-Face coverings: Face masks may be required for all students and staff when inside the classrooms according to CDPH guidelines.

-Lunch: Continued individual sack lunches from home; ABSOLUTELY no sharing of food.

-Recess: Outside recess will be established with as little as possible in overlap times.

-Shared use: All students will have individual supplies (i.e. pencils, paper, markers, etc.). Each student must have their own water bottle.

-Campus Visitors: Non-essential visitors’ time, including volunteers and parents, will be suspended.

-Ventilation: Windows will be open as much as possible to circulate fresh air, along with swamp coolers and fan filtration.

-Cleaning and disinfection: High touch surface areas, such as door handles, light switches, bathroom surfaces, tables, desks, chairs, and others, will be frequently cleaned and disinfected by staff.

 -Hand Hygiene: Frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizing gel will be implemented throughout the day.

-Restrooms: Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized daily; soap and paper towels will be stocked every day.

Staff and school families are encouraged to make sure that illnesses of any kind are to be kept home to reduce the risk of COVID 19 on our campus. If a student or anyone in the shared household exhibits any of the following symptoms, he/she must stay at home: 
Fever of 100.4 or higher

Dry cough

Sore throat

Shortness of breath

Chest pain

Bluish lips or face

Staff members and students with any of the above symptoms will not return until they have met CDPH criteria to discontinue home isolation, including at least 10 days since symptoms first appeared.

-Consideration for Partial or Total Closures: When a student or a teacher tests positive for COVID19 and has exposed others at the school, we will refer to the CDPH Framework for K-12 Schools and implement those guidelines. Should exposure warrant a school closure, teachers will develop a plan for continuity of education during the closure. BACS will not have the resources to offer both in-person learning and distance learning at the same time for those who would be put at risk by in-person instruction.
